Then they'll have sweets and biscuits and cakes. Cutting back is more appropriate. Mine get chips once a week sometimes twice. As for crisps, I don't buy them unless they're on special offer.

Crisps are unnecessary but nice as treats occasionally - they contain a disproportionate amount of fat and salt. Chips - also good as a special treat but certainly not frequently. Think of more nutritious ways of feeding children; potatoes are great but they need to be cooked/prepared in a healthy way as part of a varied diet.

I don't think stopping them eating them entirely is a good idea, but certainly limiting their portions to a sensible level would be a start! also there are healthy options, like home made oven chips. my daughter prefers them to the processed frozen ones anyway and she hates going to Macdonalds and Burger King! She'd rather eat a roast and she's only 2!

The problem really isn't that we ARE giving it to them- the problem is that we're giving them too much.

Moderation is the key to everything. As long as it is given as a treat and not a staple food, it's ok.

A weekend treat is o.k. but to much of them is a definate no. They contain to much of what is bad for children and adults alike.
