It is because of the centripetal acceleration due to the gravity emitted by all objects. When your cheese sensed the field emitted by the surrounding objects, it reacted. Naturally, the Earth's gravitational field would be the strongest due to its enormous mass in proportional to the other objects around it. However, the surface tension from the room or mass the cheese rested on resists that of gravity and therefore, dramatically reduces its effects on the cheese. Therefore, other nearby masses will have a more profound effect. Since your cheese moved 2cm, this force must have been strong enough to resist the inertia of the cheese itself. So no, the cheese does not move, but the force emitted by other objects moves it. ...........by the way, why would you measure/notice something like that?

The main message in the book is to be open and accepting to change. The mice who took different routes and weren't afraid to fail got the cheese. Does that help? Happy reading!

Main message...
You should be open to changes and not be afraid of the surrounding. Instead of being affected by the environment, you should play a role to affect others.
