my cd drive, doesn't seem to be working.
whenever i put in a cd, it doesn't automatically open it like before.
and whenever i try to go into My Computer and open it from there, it says that the disk is not formatted.
but it says that for every cd i put in, even blanks.
i can't even burn cd's damnit.
any idea, anyone?

it's dead. get a new one.

Go to the device manager, disk management,tic the plus sign on "Disk Drives", and right tic on the offender. Select "uninstall" and restart the computer. This reloads the drivers, which have become corrupt.

I had that problem, I UN installed the driver then turned off computer when I turned on computer it installed driver automatically and it is working fine.

just open up the cabinet of your system and try to unplug and then plug the data cable (White broad cable) attached to your cd drive.but unplug it from both the motherboard and the cd and then replug it once again.

try running a system restore... i had the same problem a couple weeks ago and it helped...

that will show u how to restore your pc (whihc i assume u r running cuz macs dont get this type of problem)

make sure to select a date when your drive was working.

yes u have to reinstall drivers and do a virus scan
