Evidently he was not serving his time at the Alabama Air Guard unit he was assigned to. A $10,000 reward for anyone to come forward with proof they served in the Alabama Air Guard with Bush has never been applied for. If I had "served" with a future president of the U.S., I'd damn well remember it and be $10,000. richer.

As others have said, he was in the Air National Guard. However, does it really matter? Just like I didn't think it was a big deal what Clinton did in his free time (as long as he doesn't lie about it under oath and purge himself). People need to look at the political history of Candidates and at the issues.

No one really knows. Spent some time in Houston flying decommissioned jets around in circles. Spent some time in Alabama working on a campaign for a family friend. Spent a lot of time drunk. Spent some time AWOL.
But he was nowhere near any war zone and was never in any danger. In the Republican fantasy world that makes him a war hero.

Just check out this studly picture that I found of him:

Great article, too. Long story short, he did what anyone else would have if they had enough connections to get away with it. It isn't any surprise that he isn't so wary of creating another Vietnam-like war -- he was never impressed by the significance of the first one.

Serving as a military reservist. Say one bad thing about us reservists and we'll have to talk in person.
You don't have to have connections or be a wuss to serve in a guard unit during war time. Guard units deploy just like active duty units do. The people in this forum who say otherwise have never served (How does it feel to have THAT one thrown back in your face?).
