Hold the botton for 10 seconds and see. some computers are made or even programed that way on XP.

If that doesnt work, Unplug and check if it will power on using batteries. If nothing check yur cord cause it may be bad meaning yur laptop would not turn on or even charge the batteries.

I f the cord works, it could be the switch on the laptop or the power source. Check yur cord first cause when u carry the laptop by a certified technician, he may charge u plenty and next thing nothing wrong with the laptop itself. Laterz.

One of three things comes to mind... Problem with the battery, problem with the power cord/converter or blown box.

Try removing the battery and with the battery removed try to start up (stay plugged in) If it starts, it may be the battery. See if you can take it in to wherever you got it and get them to loan you a battery.

If that doesn't work, see if you can locate any sort of fuse on the power converter and see if that fuse is okay.

If that doesn't work, try a new battery and power converter/charger and see if that works.

Failing these, sounds like the box may be fried. You can also contact a local PC support person typically through services such as Craigslist. They charge a reasonable fee and can look at this for you (typically $20 or so an hour).

Good Luck.

First, guarantee that the computer is plugged into the wall. go into the BIOS (both DEL key or F2 for most pcs), verify to confirm if the computer recognizes all the hardware on your equipment (CD, hardrives, and the type). If it does see all the hardware then it could be overheating and would want a good dusting. yet another route to attempt is getting a Boot Disk, which incorporates Win PE or the ultimate Boot Disk (google those words), see if the computer can boot to the GUI (snap shots consumer Interface) ecosystem. If it may boot to a abode windows laptop, verify abode windows explorer to confirm if all of your drives are listed. in case you will see the harddrives, CDs, ect., then run a disk verify on C: pressure. Set the Disk verify to fix the mistakes stumbled on. in case you won't be able to boot to a GUI then there's a hardware failure and also you're out a pc and may want to besides take it aside and draw close the products on your wall.

Unplug it > Remove Battery > Put Battery back in > Plug it back in.
Turn it on.

There could have been a power surge while you were out of town that damaged the AC Power Adapter. Try replacing it if the above didnt work.

take it to a computer store like best buy and see if all you need is a new plug. a power surge might have knocked it out. if a new plug doesnt work then you might have to take it to a repair shop and see if they fix it

you left it hooked up too long don't do it again because when you do that it overcharges itself and you can run into the same problem again or just get a replacement battery just try that and then you will be in the clear

no power, loose connection, power surge fried it, failed hard drive, failed motherboard, failed processor.
maybe you should take it to someone that knows why a computer won't come on.
