republicans vs democrates, poor vs rich, feminists vs men, minorities vs majorities. Would the combatants fight like they did in the civil war, with no mercy? Who would win?

Good vs. Evil.. it's already taking place.... Republicans vs. dems.. can't you see that it has already started.. I may die in battle, but I will vote Republican until I die unless some drastic change should come to the democratic party.

There wouldn't be a civil war because it would end in a couple of minutes. It would be the conservatives (who love the constitution and capitalism) against the liberals (who like socialism and don't care about the Constitution). The liberals would want to hug some trees and talk about it. Of course the Conservatives would run them over.

Red states versus blue states I'm guessing. Pretty much urban versus rural is how it geographically shakes out. The libs would lose because they would refuse to fight (beliefs are their own undoing). I'm thinking farmers, small towners, and bikers versus gang members and escaped convicts. Pretty ugly, huh?

Probably blacks vs. whites, the way things are now. But I think it would then become anyone with a grudge against anyone else and it would just become complete anarchy. Everyone would be out killing anyone they didn't like.

RE: MICHAEL L & TEXAS

Please note that Texas is the only state with a legal right to secede from the Union. (Please refer to the Texas-American Annexation Treaty of 1848).

AND consider these points:

A. NASA’s Mission Control is just south of Houston, Texas. We will control space communications unless ya’ll put out another 3 billion plus for a facility of equal value.

B. We refine over 85% of the gasoline in the United States. (The reserves in the salt domes of Louisiana won’t last long.)

C. Defense Industry (we have over 65% of it). The term, "Don't mess with Texas," will take on a whole new meaning.

D. Computer Industry - We currently lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications: Small places like, Texas Instruments, Hewlet Packard, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, Motorola, National Semiconductor, Intel, AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Semiconductor, Delphi, Nortel, etc.. The list goes on and on.

E. Health Centers - We have the largest research centers for Cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world. We don’t lack for teaching medical centers, either. Baylor College of Medicine, UT Health Science Center/Houston, UTMB/Galveston are just a few.

F. We have enough colleges to keep us going (130 minimum): UT, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Rice, SMU, University of Houston, Baylor, UNT, Texas Women's University, etc. Ivy grows better in the south anyway.

G. We have control of the paper industry, plastics, insurance, etc.

H. In case of foreign invasion, we have the Texas National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. We don't have an army, but since everybody down here has at least six rifles and a pile of ammo, we can raise an army in 24-hours if we need to. If the situation gets really bad, we can always call the Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over a couple of Texas Rangers.

I. We are totally self-sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables and lets not forget seafood from the Gulf. And EVERYBODY down here knows how to cook them so that they taste good. Don't need to import any food.

J.Our transportation needs are just fine. Continental Airlines is based in Houston, and American Airlines and Southwestern Airlines are based in Dallas. Our railroads work quite fine, too.

K. Houston has one of the largest ports in North America. Just like ya’ll will charge us for anything we may need to import (doubt it), we will be levying a tax on all goods that we export. Since we have the largest border with Mexico, ya’ll can stop laughing at the “Made in Mexico” stamp on goods from that country. We will be charging a fee for those goods to pass through this country. Those goods will no longer be cheap. (We remember when all of us used to laugh at “Made in Japan.”) In the end, the money we receive from exports with outweigh our cost to import.

This just names a few of the items that will keep the Republic of Texas in good shape. There are not too many things out there that we need and don't have.

Since you won't have the refineries to get gas for your cars, ya'll be walking or riding bikes.

You won't have any TV as the Mission Control in Houston will cut off your satellite communications (cable, DISH network, GPS cell phones). You won't have any natural gas to heat your homes, but since global warming is a prediction, you will not need the gas. (SUGGESTION: Eat beans every night & the gas produced undercover will keep ya’ll warm.)

It would be a fight between conservatives and liberals. but it would be a short fight. Most conservatives own guns. Most liberals don't!
