Not necessiarly. My daughter had a rash of ear infections (8 in one season), blew her ear drum 4 times and was finally put on prophalytic antibiotics for a year. She's actually a very healthy girl right now - never seems to get sick - got the flu once. I agree with one of your answerers who suggested an ENT. Your doctor is probably trying to find the one that works, and tubes don't stop infections from happening. They just decrease the amount of times in most cases.
Voice your concerns to your son's doctor. Ask his opinion on an ENT and ask him flat out why it isn't clearing. Ask him if he's spoken to other physician's. Regarding his immune system, he may become immune to Amoxicillin and Augmentin, but even that's not concrete. The AMA has indicated that strains of bacteria that used to be cured by these antibiotics are no longer being touched by them because the strains are getting more powerful. The one thing you want to make sure you don't do it to give your child antiobiotics for virual conditions like colds and such. Antiobiotics do not work on virual infections and and many people become resistant to them with repeated use (over the course of several years.)
Don't be hasty. You've not said how long he's been dealing with this, but it may take some time to find the right medicine.
Good luck.

My daughter has tubes and sees a pediatric ENT. She hasn't gotten an infection since her tube were put in (April)...knock on wood. But our ENT prefers to give antibiotic ear drops for children with tubes. Since the ear is open, it easier to deliver the medicine to the inner ear. He says it more effective than oral antibiotics.
Our daughter was in antibiotics for months on end because of her infections and I was worried as well. Not just about the systemic effects but her teeth as well! I'd suggest making an appointment ASAP with an Ear Nose & Throat specialist.

my daughter use to get ear infections all the time when she was younger. she got such bad infections that green pus was coming of her ears when she would take a nap and she was on every antibiotics you could think of she also had to tubes put in her ears..the doctors also told us to make sure no water gets in her ears while the tubes are in her ears..it eventually cleared up on its own/ and with the help of antibiotics.. believe me i could of made a fortune if i had taken out stock on the antibiotic.if you don't feel comfortable with the pediatrician try another doctor..my daughter is almost 20 now and no problems with her ears...hope this helps at all./

Have you talked to your ENT specialist??? My son had tubes at 18 months. It did the trick, no more infections until he was 11 yrs old!
BUT, my ENT specialist told me to let her know if he was having infections afterwards. And if his ped. is not helping (sounds like not) I would call the specialist. Go with your instinct to get a different Dr. and opinion!
He also had his adenoids taken out at the same time as the tubes. I have talked with other moms whose babies had tubes put in, but adenoids not taken out AND still had ear infections. I'm obviously not a Dr. but I wonder if this has something to do with it?

Letting ear infections circulate could reason severe listening to loss besides as different problems. i do no longer unavoidably have faith holistic is a bad thank you to circulate, yet in some unspecified time interior the destiny with out progression, i've got faith medical intervention is needed. Antibiotics are no longer working using fact his physique has develop into proof against them. i'm guessing the medical expert has given him penicillin each time. it is extra of a reason he could desire to have tubes put in. it incredibly is an common technique, he's given a numbing shot and feels no longer something. the finished technique takes under an hour. returned, attempting to do issues needless to say isn't a bad element. yet in some unspecified time interior the destiny you will ought to do what's terrific to your son! you do no longer decide to reason any injury to his ears.

A good doctor would have known what to do right away--not had to try 3 different antibiotics and still not having a clue how to get rid of the infection. Yes, switch doctors.

Go to a Homeapathic doctor. They may be able to cure your son's ear infections with something natural.

If I were you I would take him to an Ear, Nose, and Throat, specialist. It's not normal for him to have them that often.
