1. Go take a class on how your body works.
2. Quit trying to get pregnant, you're too dang young.
3. Get a job, save enough money to be able to support your future children.
4. Have fun while you're young and find someone who will stand by your and help parent your kids.

What do you do? Try thanking your lucky stars! Try growing up and enjoy your late teens and early twenties... Believe me, having kids not only is a big responsibility but it is like putting an anchor around your ankle. Life as you now know it will change forever!

Having children at a young age is not only emotionally stressful but financially as well... Take one example.. Before you conceive go and price just diapers (never mind everything else) then figuring at least 6 changes per day times 7 days a week times the cost of one package. Now add in formula, clothing (which will be outgrown in a few months), Doctor visits and other baby needs.. Then add your own expenses... Then subtract your family's income and see what you come up with.

My advice is to hold off a few years and enjoy your life. There will be a time for babies later.

People who are as young as you are are not even finished maturing physically. Teenage brains don't finish developing until possibly into the mid-twenties (early twenties at the earliest), and your bones won't be completely finished until you're about 25 as well.

Another thing to remember is that women are getting toward the end of being able to have kids the whole process of menopause takes starts for a few years before real menopause begins and goes on for another few years after. My point is being fertile or not fertile is a process and it isn't always an "either/or" process

I have read that the optimum age (health-wise, not necessarily "life-wise" or "intelligence-wise" or "experience wise") for child bearing is 24.

Think about this, too: With all due respect, if you're not even sure about ovulation and aren't someone who would take it upon yourself to look in some reference source to find out, you really aren't someone who should be thinking about trying to bring a child into the world. This is not meant as a slam to you. Its just that people who bring children into the world need to have some basic knowledge or at least the instinct to have a really good understanding of things like the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and particularly child-rearing issues.

Now, to do address your question: Normally, a woman ovulates 14 days before the next period will arrive (so its a guess when a woman doesn't have a pretty sure idea about when the next period should arrive). That can vary a little, depending on cycles, etc. Generally, it is between 17 days before the next period and 12 days before the next period that a pregnancy can occur.

It is also said that people don't need to worry about fertility until after they've tried to conceive for one whole year, and it hasn't happened.

Women have babies in their forties. You have all of your twenties (mid-to-late twenties would be best) and at least the first few four or so years into your thirties (also a fine time to have babies) before you even get near the years where it is still only a slightly higher risk for pregnancy.

Build your life and your future, and build yourself into a mature, whole, thinking, grown-up who wants to make sure all her children come into the best possible circumstances you can offer them.

Someone who is mature enough to be a mother places her baby's wellbeing ahead of her own wishes long before any baby is actually conceived.

At 18 that is a good thing for both you & that would be child. Are you married. Do you have an education & a job that will allow you to take care that baby. You are moving way to fast. Ask one of the poor girls who have had a child in that situation. They will tell you how hard it is for them & the child. Babies are not dolls. They are expensive little critters & a lot of hard work. Nows the time of life for you to get your own life together.

Pregnant, first what about college, getting a degree, and being able to take care of yourself. College is a good start, you can get an education, party, pledge a sorority if you like, be in clubs, and enjoy life. Make sure you do something with your life baby. Before having a baby.

take it easy and relax. not conceiving after trying for 6 months isn't that unusual. my wife and i tried for almost a year. if you are determined to conceive now, go to an OB/GYN and ask them to put you on a series of pre-natal vitamins and perhaps a specialized diet.
make sure that your body is healthy and ready to have a baby. if you still haven't had any luck after about a year, have your man's sperm checked at a fertility clinic or sperm bank. it costs less for him to be checked than you, and if you have a sperm bank in your area, they might even pay you for the donation.
try to eliminate any stress in your life. your emotions echo through your body more than you know.
and on a more personal note: is your man a good lover? studies have shown that if you climax before him, it lessens the chances of you conceiving over both of you climaxing at the same time.

You are 18? How the heck are you going to be able to afford a child at 18 years old?--Forgive me if you are an heiress....

Why don't you wait a few years. Go to college, put yourself in a better position to afford and educate your child. You have a lot of time left to worry about whether or not you can have children!

You didn't even take time to do research on ovulation and you think your old enough to take care of a child. Physically you might be ready but you also have to be emotionally, spiritually and economically prepared.

Enjoy your youth. Go out with your friends. Enjoy the college experience!

When the time is right, it will happen.
