This happened to me, When i did my GCSE's I did really well. When I got to my A levels all the pressure goes off and everyone leaves you to it. What you got to try and do is just keep motivating yourself and focus on the long term plan. Alevels are just a short two year gap between the rest of your life, but they are very important!!!

You have what I call the sixth form blues.
Before your GCSEs you were used to a routine that was mostly decided for you and now you are being treated as an adult and have to take your own decisions and motivate yourself. You also are not quite sure about the point of what you are doing at the moment.
If you have picked a subject which is not what you expected, go and see your director of sixth form studies and see if it is possible to change. It may not be too late. If you are locked into what you opted for, bear in mind that it is only for another year and a half. This may seem a long time, but if you put your back into it, time will fly. I promise you it will be worthwhile in the long run. Don't let yourself down by drifting. Be positive!

You're not in school anymore, its true what they say "You never know what you've got until its gone." I don't care about school anymore either, but for a totally different reason, you and me are on opposite ends of the spectrum, I don't care for school anymore because I was bullied constantly for anything, you on the other hand don't care because you're no longer learning, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the learning side of things, but hated the bullying. To be honest, even though I made friends at school, to say I had a good time in school would be a lie. I'm glad its over, I spent four years (from year 7-11 being bullied) if I had stayed another two and gone into sixth form, I don't think I could have handled it, I would have walked out of the school gates and never come back if I was told to go to 6th form!
I will, however, say congratulations on your GCSEs, mine were certainly different to yours, I got 3Ds, 2Es 2Fs and a G, and I'm now 21. I'm just glad that the bullying is over! Also, the reason you're not working so much is because you've discovered a new you. Don't be like the lad in my year who valued his school work over his social life, he was shunned by everyone for that, the rest of us balanced it all out, and didn't put too heavy a will on the work or the social times!

Hey I know what u mean, college just seems like an effort and the work is so much more complex then GCSE standard!!
I think its down to the whole gotta start to stand on your own two feet kind of realisation that makes it such a drag!!
But come on 18 is all about having fun, staying out and partying while you don't have a lot of responsibilities, enjoy it!!

Hard to say really. It depends on what was your motivation to do well at your original school. It depends whether the ethos of the school was to be successful or if it was your own desire.
Now that you are older you might have different goals or distractions that weren't at your old school. My advice is to find the spark again and try to be successful. A good education is the foundation for a good life. With good A-levels you'll be able to go to the university of your choice and that is something worth experiencing!

You're 18. So are you a freshman in College? Anyway, you probably have just lost focus for a moment. Remember the big picture. You need a good education to have a good paying job for life. So get back on the books and leave the partying for after graduation.

Maybe now you actually need a reason to go to school - other than friends. The only way to keep going is to keep reminding yourself of what you want to do when you get out of school. Work towards a goal.
Of course, if you don't have a goal to work towards, its worth taking some time to figure it out. Otherwise there won't be a point to what you're doing and you'll just feel purposeless.

You have lost focus for a little bit, all you need to do is to think about what you want to do in life and I believe you will regain your focus oncemore. You seem to be an intelligent lad and I believe the subjects you are taking in your A's do have a bearing as to what you want to do in life unless if you are thinking of emulating someone doing different subjects.
Unknown to you, your friends may be working very hard in their chosen fields so don't be easily swayed by fantasy, instead concentrate and you will reap your rewards later in life.

Changing schools can be difficult on any one - rather you made lots of friends or not. You just need to focus and think about the type of college that you wish to get into.

Well, you got to college. You have freedom and a life. It's not high school anymore and no one is requiring you to be there. Everyone goes through that. Keep doing well and hopefully you'll get over the slump...and maybe start using a spell check.
