Psalms. They are beautiful poems.
See in the link below some of the meditations I happened to write on some psalms.

In the Old Testament, my favorites would have to be Isaiah, Genesis, and probably Psalms. Although I love the history books as well. The stories of Elijah and Elisha have always been some of my favorites. Isaiah would be my favorite because it is so good it is in my opinion the fifth gospel...the gospel of the Old Testament. Especially the last twenty-plus chapters or so (40-66).
In the New Testament, my favorite gospel would have to be John. I love that book. So beautiful. And my favorite epistles would have to be Romans and Ephesians.

Any of the apocraphal books.
A lot of people don't realize that there are a lot of books that were excluded from the Bible years ago... such as the Book of Lilith, etc.
Try reading some of those to open your mind a bit more.

Judges.
I love this book. It contains my favorite story. The one where the woman wins the battle for an entire army by nailing a man's head to the ground with a tent post. It's in chapter 4. That's just...wow.
I also adore Luke. You can tell that he was a physician by the way he writes certain things.

Depends on my mood. the book of Proverbs has a number of pithy sayings, like .."A continual drip on a rainy day and a contentious woman are alike." (i've quoted that one to my wife and regretted it).
I like the Gospel of John because of the beautiful writing ("in the beginning was the word." and I like I Corinthians for chapter 13 (the love chapter)-"love is patient and kind. Love is never boastful. If I speak with the tongues of angels and have not love..." Sorry if the quotes are not accurate-they are from memory.

I think it's Genesis. I love hearing about the beggining of the world when everything was new... And I love reading about the creation (not that I understand it - no human being can understand the depth of it...)
But I feel like it brings me closer to God when I read about his creation because just looking at nature and creation can make a person believe in God and his everlasting power.

I like to read the book of John. I think it is one of the most important books you can read to understand Jesus.
