I was wondering is it possible to save videos from YouTube.com to my hard drive?
Cause I know how to save video from other sites but YouTube streams the video and I cant work out how to save it..

YouTube i believe uses .swf (Shockwave Flash Files) and it streams using there player

I have never been to you tube, but if the streaming video is embedded in windows media, then right click, copy the link shown in the target area, paste it in you browser and click go... this will bring up an open/save as box... save it where you want it.

Yes, there is a way to save YouTube videos. It's an extension for Firefox called VideoDownloader:

Videos in Flash format, like the ones on YouTube, will be saved as .FLV files, and you'll need a program that can play .FLV files, like:

you firefox and view the page source. This lets you see the script. When it gets to the video URL (ends in .mpg) copy and paste it into another browser window and save it from there.

firefox has a bunch of plug-ins for this. just go to the extensions add-ons page and type 'youtube' into the search box.
