is there a store that sell good used bed, living room furniture?

Some good places of course craigs list or a consignment store look in yellow pages or a little known fact is that rent to own comapnies all the furniture is used. Call some local ones to see if they have cancelled contract buy outs. Also do a local seach for furniture auctions is a good place to look as well.

There is a Conn's Outlet store on Stella Link and 610. They sell scratch and dent stuff for really cheap.

Also, you may want to check with apartment complexes in the Med Center/U of H/Rice area. People are always moving and not wanting to take their furniture with them because they were just here on internships and are moving out of state or out of the country. Get an Apartment Guide and call the leasing offices in that area. Often the residents inform the staff of the apartments that they are selling furniture.

Yes, goodwill and the salvation army now have stores that you can go to and look at their things.
Also the churches around town know of places to get good used furniture...and they may welcome you as well!

Salvation Army has cheap almost new stuff. Goodwill also have stuff but it is more expensive and not as nice usually.
