Just wondering, not that race matters, but I have a friend who is your typical WASP American and his girlfriend is Italian-American, I have another friend who is a WASP American who's girlfriend is Jewish. Are they interracial couples or not?

to a degree yes they used to be considered so - as the italian gal is probably catholic. the two religions were considered like to different ethincities.
one thing i would warn him about -- generally ethnic familied have lots of traditions and such -- as a WASP he may or may not have them - generally not so.... he will need to know that these family traditions are as important as the family itself.

I am curious what WASP means in this context. I thought it meant Women Air Service Pilots, or a stinging insect. I heard a lot of WASP jokes back when I was in high school, and I just naturally assumed that was possibly the slang for super-thin people.
I don't think Italians and Jews of another race. I know everyone has different thoughts on this, but the children probably wouldn't be counted as interracial. This is a good question! :)

No, they would not be inter-racial. Judaism is a religion, not a race. Some people do claim that Jews are an ethnic group, not just a religion. But an ethnic group is not the same as a separate race. And, there are Jews of every race, though the vast majority are White.
Italians are a distinct ethnic group, but they are not a separate race. They are White just like the other ethnic groups that originate from Europe.

They are human American couples, why do you have to place a label on anyone. If they like it, let it be and stop trying to label them and what is a WASP. God bless

white anglo saxon protestant. In american race is based on skin colour, so now it would not be inter racial, but inter cultural. But in some other countries, and in the 1800s it may be different

Are the girls Caucasian? Is the guy Caucasian? If so, then they're not interracial couples.

if both born in america then they are american their colour or religious preference is irrelevent good luck to them
