I can pause and get the two vertical line in the top left of the screen but what do I press to take the song out of pause mode.

I can pause the song and get the two vertical lines, I can also re-press pause or press play to re-start the song but I want to stop the song so I don't get the pause line or the play triangle

press the same button u used to pause it or hit the play button. either one should work

If it's anything like the 60 gig you just press the same button again.

press stop, and there is no such thing as an 80gb ipod, the most is a 60gb.
