a v 6 is a style motor. shaped in a v, some times you'll hear strait 6 with is a 6 cylinder but in line. also refered to as a in-line 6. when you hear v 8,10, or 12 it's the same thing the block holds the cylinders in a v shape form.

It means your engine has 6 cylinders arranged in a "V" shape (3 cylinders in each side of the "V"). This is opposed to a "straight" 6, where all 6 are in a straight line...

It's smaller and less powerful then a v8, and bigger and more powerful then a 4 cylinder. That's all I know... just get a 4 cylinder, there less confusing to work on and get better gas mileage.
