I have taken orthotrycyclen for 6 years and haven't really had any bad side effects with it. It hasn't caused weight gain and only caused mild nausea for the 1st few days when I started taking it.
The good side effects that I have had with it though are that I haven't gotten pregnant, my periods are regular now and it helped clear up my skin.
The only problems that I ever have with birth control is if I miss a day and double up the next day I get severe nausea in the morning.

I first started on Ortho Novum and it made me bazerk! I was an emotional mess. I was so messed up, I KNEW I was messed up so after 4 months and went to the doctor crying and begging to help me. I switched to another pill (can't remember the name) and have felt normal ever since. No changes in physical appearance with either. Now I use nuva ring and love it even more. Same side effects and just as effective as the pill, but only once a month instead of a pill every day.

Sweetie, has anyone told you about all the bad things that can happen when you take the pill?
You may experience awful side effects now, even deadly, and you will have bigger dangerous health issues in the future.
The pill basically puts you into a state of everlasting premenopause.
Fluid retention, depression, headaches, and urinary tract infections, are experienced by women using birth control pills.
Having altered your normal hormonal cycles when using the Pill, you are more prone to symptoms at midlife as well as potentially more serious health problems. This is because the synthetic hormones used in the Pill can interfere with the body’s own progesterone receptors. The progestins are more potent and may inhibit the product of your body’s own sex hormones.
You can look forward to coronary artery disease, breast cancer, endometrial cancer, infertility, strokes, high blood pressure, liver dysfunction, liver disease, respiratory allergies, digestive disorders, depression, blood clots, osteoporosis, and weight gain.

take the shot because the pill can all kinds of side effects like the shot, but you won't have to worry about taking the shot everyday like the pill. you take the shot every three months unlike the pill you have to take it everyday and sometimes you will forget, but the shot you don't have to worry for three months. you also have to be careful because the shot will make you gain weight so eat right and exercise.

I was one of the few that didn't have any symptoms with the pill. My only problem was REMEMBERING to take the pill. In case you have the same problem try leaving your pills somewhere where they will be visible(desk, nightstand, medicine cabinet).
