My sister was convicted of injury to a child 18 years ago.She accepted a plea bargain.Anyway she regained custody of her daughter shortly after.She has gone on to have 3 more children and has never been in any legal trouble since her conviction.Would she be able to adopt another child?

No, Felons are not permitted to adopt children

Honestly I do not know. I would recommend your sister consult with an adoption attorney or a adoption agency.

I do know that rape, murder and child molestation are automatic disqualifiers. Other minor legal scrapes do not prevent a parent from adopting. For example, possession of alcohol by a minor is not a disqualification. I just know OK.

You know i dont no why not that was many years ago we all make mistakes. She should try getting a pardon they are not that hard to get.Good luck

I don't know about other states but in NJ she could not. I tend to think other states have similar policies.
