I have had the boiler maintenance contract with them for the last four/five years and found them very satisfactory. There is an excellent call-out system, usually the next day and I have had no trouble since being with them. You get a rebate for low callouts which in my case brought the yearly fee down to £201 p.a. Well worth it for the peace of mind it gives you............ try calling them on 0845 7365 100..........for starters.......

I have had one for the past five years and found it to be a godsent when the central heating has been troublesome. Though it is expensive it's the peice of mind knowing that if your C/H packs in it is only a phone call away to get it fixed.

However, I see that they are trying to get people to sign up to the whole package now plumbing the lot and you would need to ask yourself would it be worth the outlay. If you have an old house like I do then yes but if your property is relatively new then I would think twice about it. Though I would take the maintenance contract. I have the three star which covers the boiler, pump radiators, h/w tank etc.

I have always found the BG Engineers to be professional and very helpful and know what they are doing. Unlike some of the so called tradesmen you can find in the local paper.

I live in Scotalnd so my contact number would be different than if you live down in England or Wales. You will find their number in the Telephone directory.

As you can see from the other postings it is important to see exactly what you are covered for. It sounds to me as though the last two postings were taken for a ride by someone..but I don't think it was BG. It is more than they dare do this day and age.

I wouldn't bother. BG are a load of con merchants. Mt friend paid well over £100 a year for years and when they had problems with a radiator not getting hot they sent out a plumber who tested the system and told them that their whole radiator system needed flushing out and that it would cost over £500 and that it wasn't covered in the maintenance contract. They contacted a local plumber who tested the system again and said that only couple of rads needed flushing and it would cost around £150 but BG kept pestering them and told them that if they went ahead and had someone else then BG would refuse to cover them again with a contract. When my friend said that they were thinking of having a new boiler next year then BG said it would allow them to have the whole job done next year as the flush would be included in the installation. Last week they had BG to quote for a new boiler and it was £2,500 !!!!!! She told them to get lost and now she isn't having the new boiler or the maintenance contract with them.

i had a gas contract with bg i only had it for 2 months i canceled it ! , i took it it out cus the house i had just moved into had a old cenral heating sytem so ithought this would help if it broke down , 4 weeks into the contract i had a knock on the door , saying they needed to check the heating system saying it was all free under the conract , so i said go ahead , he was only there for 10 mins , the first thing he did was to tell me that the boiler was insecure and he would have to cut the gas supply off for safety ,what he never botherd to tell me was he had cut the whole house off as well !i found that out when in the depths of winter i try to light the gas fire , , i tryd to explain to him i had no other form of heating and could not just seal the gas to the boiler off , he told me no , not after the deed was done and the only ones that could turn my gas back on was transco ! thenhe realy went to town offering me A NEW BOILER AND RADIATORS for 5,000 quid , i told him to stuf it ! we made or own way to bed , in the cold , in the end i got a mate that was workin for tranco to help and payed him 35 quid to cap off the boiler , and conect the gas fire , the next day i told bg to stick there contract where the sun dont shine , the robbing tow rags !
