Yes. Until you get married or grow older. Then the old saying, "pretty is as pretty does," comes into play.
I am not being cruel. I am just saying,...looks fade, brains and kindness last forever!

Unfortunately in the world today, a world that is obsessed with fashion, be skinny and having lots and lots of money, it does matter to people of the world. Some live, breathe and eat these things. Some people starve themselves to obtain a certain pant size. Some will backstab, lie, cheat, and steal to obtain a certain financial status. Some will nip, tuck and pull on themselves for years just to look like what the world says is perfect. In all of this my main concern is that once they have done all of this, it still does not change who they are on the inside. And as long as your inner man is still the same, even if you change the outside, you'll still be the same person. That is why these people are never satisfied. If you ask them, there will always be something else they feel is wrong with them. Not knowing that, for instance, even if you nip, tuck and pull the outer man and you don't do anything about the inner man. You will just be 'glorified bottomless person' always searching for perfection. I would rather have someone with me that looks like a mutt, but as long as that person is true to me and genuine, I would go to the ends of the earth with them. May God Bless

Unfortunately Yes. It's only as we get older that we realise that what's on the inside, the character, nature, disposition of a person is far more important. That's not to say we shouldn't look after ourselves and make the most of what we have. At 61 I still swim and do aquarobics three or four times a week and like to dress reasonably fashionably.

Looks should never matter, but they always do. A good looking person is going to have so many more easy chances in life than someone else. You can do what you want, but you have to work harder without the looks.

Yes. Unfortunately, as much as we would like to think of ourselves as a forward thinking culture, our subconscious is still wired to appreciate beauty. All the social studies that have been conducted show that beautiful people tend to make more money, gain more respect at work, and receive more direct attention when in crisis.
On the other hand, a study was just completed that suggests that beautiful people tend to have less happy relationships with significant others.
Evolution hardwires us to look for beauty in our significant others, and to think higher of beautiful people. Beauty often goes hand in hand with cleanliness, with lack of blemishes, and with overall outwards appearance of good health.

To tell you the truth, sometimes looks do matter, but mostly never. I feel that looks don't put that much justice to what one 'believes' in. It doesn't tell another person how one is inside. Now, I can't say, for example, that this girl is really beautiful, so I should make friends with her. What if she is pretty, but not inside? What if she's cheap and disrespectful? So which one, looks or personality? Your choice.

Yes, until you get into a relationship then nothing else matters just apart from how much you love each other.

No, but there will always be the superficial and shallow people who think that it does. A lot of people are not that shallow though, so don't take my first sentence as true for everyone. Personally, I like people best for who they are personality wise.
On the other hand, if you don't bathe and don't at least try to look good, then that is your own fault. It's not about looks in this case, its about hygiene.

I think they matter but not as much as what's on the inside.
