I understand her songs, especially from her first CD has some stuff in it that people considered to be deep and very in-the-day.
Personally, I just could not get past her tortured squealings she considered singing.
I saw a clip of her some years back on 'Star Search'. She actually has a nice voice when she chooses to use it as such.
However, I'm sure she smiled all the way to the bank when everyone was gobbling up the drivel she was wailing, screaming, tribbling, whatever-you-want-to-call-it; but don't call it singing.

Man, that song about her "giving out high-fives" made me stop listening to the radio for a long time because it was ALWAYS played.
I don't see how anyone could consider that "singing". She sounds like she's drunk and constipated.
