Genetics will give you the ability, training will get you smart. Education helps, but there are plenty of educated idiots running around. That is because ignorance can be cured but stupidity cannot.

Smart or knowledgeable? There is a difference you know. Smart is simply put as things coming together quickly to make sense. Knowledge is reading up on things to make you more up to date-kind of like having to download something into your computer to make it work better. Most people are knowledgeable. They have to read up to get the right idea first. And there's nothing wrong with that. But there are those that can piece things together all on their own and quickly. Perhaps it's a gift to be smart. But it isn't shameful to be knowledgeable either. Both work well-especially together.

Dunno about smart....but if you wish to be the most informed (nothing is 100% reliable), you use discerning logic, and other information aiding in your opinion as to its reliability of your discernment, to determine which sources are the most reliable in fact, in the regards to the information you seek to be more knowledgeable about. This will amplify the percentage of probability that your sources of information gathering on a topic are correct.
