Well, why did she do it? Does she have kids to feed and was simply trying to take care of them? Or did she just wanna spend money? Find out why. When you know the reason, the answer should be pretty clear cut.

If you bail her out, what happens if she runs or doesn't show up for court??? You lose your money, house, car, or whatever you put up to cover her bail. Is she worth it??
If she is crocked enough to write bad checks (Writing a check when you know you don't have the money to cover it in the bank.), she will rip you off too. Let her stew in jail until she goes to court. It will do two things -- 1. She will not enjoy being there and maybe learn not to wind up there again and; 2. If she is found guilty of the crime, the judge might let her off with the time she will have already served in the lockup waiting for trial plus, maybe probation unless it is a second or more offense.
Quit beating yourself up about it. It wasn't your fault and if she is an adult, well she is responsible for herself. You can support her by being present at her trial, but I wouldn't do any more than that.

I wrote a hot check once, didn't mean to though..My husband withdrew some money and didn't tell me until it was too late..Anyways I paid the fine and didn't go to jail..Did she mean to write hot checks and didn't care? If it were my sis and I knew she did it on purpose I would let her sit there for a day or 2 then get her out. Hopefully she'll learn her lesson. I'm not trying to sound mean, I just don't want people making the same mistakes and coming to me for help knowing I'll help them over and over.

Well I don't know how many times has she done this? If it's the frist time I'd bail her out otherwise let her learn her lesson. But if you decide to bail her out don't rush take a few hours so she has to sit and think

As much as you love your sister, let her sit there, PLEASE. My BIL has been in trouble with the law before, and each time we bailed him out (we are out over a thousand dollars way over a thousand dollars because of him) and he never learns his lesson. Maybe during this event your sister might learn that her sister/mom/dad/etc will not be there to bail her out. Its tough, I know,

Well both of them sound like good ideas but...................... She is your sister and maybe you should bond her out. Then take control of her check book. Does she have a job? Some people need help and it is embarrassing to ask for help but that is what it sounds like she needs. I would do it for my sister.

the first time if it was a check or two and a honest mistake, bail out. if it was alot of checks, bailing out won't be as much as the fines and court costs.

You have to understand the consequences of her actions, she did something VERY wrong and she is and ADULT so she should be punished for what's she's done.
