Do some research online, there is probably a site where you can order your own birth certificate for a fee. If you're over 18 you could also try to contact the adoption agencies in your state to see if they will divulge any info. Let your mother know that might be important later on for you to have an accurate medical history, in case you're at risk from a genetic disorder. Good luck.

Your birth certificate will give you the names of your biological parents. Your mom should tell you whatever it is that she's keeping secret. Can't you sit her down and have a quiet discussion ? If she still acts cagey, tell her you'll contact the welfare office and get the truth from them. But remember, even if she didn't give birth to you, she's still the mom who raised you and loves you. She may be scared in case she loses your love. Treat her gently

How old are you, if younger than 18 there is not much you can do. It varies from state to state, get on Google (or any search engine) and look up adoption support. They will be able to help you out there, but not much can be done if your mom gives you reason to doubt.

if you are you can't do anything about it unless the biologocal parent want to find you. your hands are tied. so instead of hurting the ones who love and raised you, let it go. if you are wrong and you are not adopted then you are making a jackass out of yourself. either way let it go

it's strange that you should depend on something else to know your birth history. i think, your mom is the only one dear and near you to speak it lovingly to you. wait for her to take the chance. don't hurry as it might hurt her more.ok?
