There is speculation over wether King Arthur and Camelot exsisted. The legend is King Arthur married Queen Guenevere and he also let a new knight into the round table named Sir Lancealot and Sir Lancealot had an affair with the Queen. Many books and movies have been based off of this legend. Quite fascinating. You should read up on it.

King Arthur, was a legendary king of medieval Britain. In other words, he was the main character in popular stories in world literature for almost 1,000 years. Writers told of King Arthur's brave deeds and the adventures of his knights of the Round Table.
According to stories, his father, King Uther Pendragon, had a baron, Sir Ector, who raised Arthur but never told him of his royal ancestry.
When Arthur pulled a magic sword Excalibur from a block of stone, he proved to everyone that he was the heir to the throne of Britain and became king. Then, Merlin, an old Celtic magician, guided Arthur to defeat a force of rebels and married the beautiful Princess Guenevere. Arthur's favorite home was Camelot, a castle in southern England.
