Why would we pray when we don't believe in a higher being that will answer our prayers

I don't pray that a sick friend gets well. I do hope that they will, but I don't plead to any higher power that he change their fate.
As to inside my house - I live, I eat, I sleep, I talk with my family, I watch TV, I work in my shop, I play on my computer, I pay my bills, I feed and play with my cats, ... I do pretty much everything any other regular person would do, except pray.

If an atheist doesn't believe in a deity or in God, an atheist doesn't have anyone to pray to, so..no, I don't see how they come they'd see need, purpose, or reason for praying with no direction as to where to go, or who to turn to if not God. I believe atheist just "hope" for the best of the loved one's health.

Praying is just wishing so, yes atheists do "pray" for loved ones to get better. And as for the second part, you do realize that non-Christians ARE human beings just like Christians, right?

No, I don't pray. Exactly whom would I pray to? lol As for the bedroom and bathroom, probably the same activities as anyone else.......possibly more since I am very active. ;)

No, but they hope that they get better. I feel so sorry for atheists. They have no hope for anything in life, nothing to look forward to...to them, after you die and are buried, you just stay in the coffin for the rest of eternity until you rot.
