I personally don't but I saw a video on it.

They take two blocks of wood and cut a bunch of grooves the size of a half pencil lead in each. Then they smear in the mixture (graphite and clay - not lead) that will be the writing part. Then they glue the sandwich together to make the full pencils and bake it to harden the glue and the clay binder. Then they run the package through a machine that cuts them apart and forms the outside shape of each one. Each package makes a bunch of pencils. After that it is painting and adding an eraser and adding any printing on the side.

I don't make pencils. But here is how they are made in a factory:

1. Incense-cedar logs are cut into "Pencil Blocks."
2. Pencil Blocks are cut into "Pencil Slats."
3. Pencil Slats are treated with wax and stain.
4. A machine cuts grooves into the slats to accept the writing core (or "lead").
5. Writing cores -- made from a mixture of graphite and clay -- are placed into the grooves.
6. A second grooved slat is glued onto the first -- making a "sandwich."
7. The sandwich is machined into pencil shapes.
8. Individual pencils are cut from the sandwich,
and are sanded smooth.
9. Each pencil is painted.
10.A recess is cut to accept the ferrule (the metal ring that holds the eraser to the pencil).
11. A ferrule and eraser are crimped into place on each pencil.
