What enjoyment do people get from wasting your time.They ring you up and say they are coming over to see an item you have for sale or for some other reason and that is the last you hear from them. I always keep my appointments if not I always let the person know so I don't waste thier time

Because people are selfish and don't think about you or that you set aside that time from your busy schedule for them.

I sell equipment to movie studios, so I've really just gotten used to the fact that they're all lying. If you don't expect honesty, then you won't be disappointed as often. Just let them know when you'll be available, and don't go out of your way- so you minimize your losses if it turns out to be a dud. Also, I'll never hold anything without up-front payment. If they would like it set aside, they'll need to give me a credit card; that way if they change their minds or don't show up, I don't have product sitting around that's committed but not sold.

POV: In the original small communities if one did this, then next year they would not get any help planting their crops. There is a stone age expression to describe these kind of people: "In autumn (harvest) he is next of kin, in Spring (planting) he is a distant relative".
But the less we depend on other human, then more we abuse them. Hence the behaviour you describe, esp where thy can melt away into anonimity.
Solution: get in the habit of trading with friends, or trusteds, AND pay the premium. Seek to meet more trusteds

Because they are inconsiderate and totally bad mannered, it seems to be the norm for a lot of people these days, so annoying.
