To be more specific can anyone tell me some of the effects immigration and migration had?

1917 - 1924 A series of laws were enacted to further limit the number of new immigrants. These laws established the quota system and imposed passport requirements. They expanded the categories of excludable aliens and banned all Asians except Japanese.
1924 Act Reduced the number of US immigration visas and allocated them on the basis of national origin.
If we look at our history of immigration concerns and legislation, one could conclude that America has been preoccupied with 4 issues:
1. From our founding days until WWII our emphasis was on maintaining our original racial and religious characteristics.
2. From WWII to the present our concern has been to maintain our ideological values of capitalism and democracy.
3. Throughout our entire history we kept our doors open to the persecuted.
4. Throughout our history we continued to stress our needs for labor and scientific know-how.

A long list, but briefly, the end of world war 1 created a lot of dis-placed people, who had no place else to go. There was famine in Ireland,which brought over a lot of immigrants.THEN there was the western migration of americans looking for a land of easy riches. Any help?

The Chinese Exclusion Acts of the late 1890s-1924 in which the USA decided to limit the number of Chinese entering the USA and also limited the number of immigrants allowed in the USA.
