Can be caused by many different things, however I would review your stress level.
If you are stressed about losing something, especially a drastic loss, or have recently lost something or someone important then you might be compensating this way.
Stress in general can cause this kind of behaviour. If it's a problem seek help.

There could be several reasons:

One may be anxiety or nervousness leading to compulsive and fast eating.

Two, it could be you feel rushed to finish eating so you can get back to the matters at hand (whatever that may be).

Three, might be that if you came from a large family, the rule was, "the one who eats the fastest gets the mostest."

To slow down while eating, put your fork down in between bites. Try to have a pleasant conversation with a dinner mate.

Cheers!

If you're aware of your behavior, then make changes and quick... before it's a new habit and you gain 89 pounds.
