Most in my area start around $9.00, but can quickly move up the pay scale with hard work and determination. My advice to you is to first become PROFICIENT in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Quicken, which will be a great building block for you to quickly learn any other program they throw at you. Second, increase your typing and shorthand skills. Make yourself indispensible. Third, be eager to help and offer this help to anyone-not just the "bosses". Finally, learn where the spellcheck button is and USE IT.

Not a great deal of money, the standard for no experience is about 7-8 dollars an hour. The last time I worked as a secretary i made 12dollars an hour and that was 6 years ago. However, I have a great deal of experience. That is why i went back to college and got two degrees. Good luck and God bless
