I am trying to locate family and was wondering if anyone knows where to go? I would like to find family in every state and find ancestors from a past time. Is there a place online that you can go and get help looking for family without paying an arm and a leg to get the information . I would love the help. thank you very much

The LDS (Mormon) church has a free site to research your family history. They are constantly inputting information from census records as far back as possible. and from foreign countries.

I've used this site: www.the-seeker.com to locate family. It's free, but its more like posting an ad "iso" in serach of , like you would in the classifieds. If they are looking for you as well, you might luck out.
