In a diner or place like IHOP it usaully about $300-400 a week. On the week nights only about $30-40 per night and $70-100 on the weekend (you are very busy on the week end and work longer hours usaully). Your paycheck is usaully $15-20 a week, so you will live off of tips only. In fine dinning restaurants you can make $0 a night to $200 a night. You don't get as many table, but when you do have tables the tips are very high, $20 - $100. These restaurants are often by seniority too, so if you haven't been there long you don't get as many tables or hours.

If you're not asking because your looking for employment in this field and want to know if or how you should tip. A good server should be tipped 20%, a good to average server 15%, slightly below average 10%, and a bad one 0 - 10%. Please keep in mind not everything is the servers fault, they should be mostly judged on their attitude and if you don't like them, they still provided you with a service. If you don't tip, don't go back to that estabilishment, I've seen some really bad things happen to people's food when they do that.

In a restaurant serviing a 3 course meal for £15, perhaps a few pounds a night if he is lucky.

In a restaurant charging around £250 per person when you include the wine, then perhaps many many times that amount.

Depend on the country, the type of restaurant/diner and how many customers he serves.

In short, anything from a few opunds/dollars per shift - to more than most people earn as a salary.

Your tips are given on the type of service that you extend to your customer. It also depends on the type of establishment, the cost of the meal or drinks, and the mood of the customer. I was a waitress on the grave yard shift of a restaurant and never made less than $55.00 on a slow night and as much as $200.00 to $300.00 on the week-end. Good luck and remember to always smile and be pleasant, and hopefully the restraint is in a good part of town or on the freeway as mine was.
