Well, it appears that since you don't know what this phrase means, you probably don't understand some of these answers.
I'll try to explain it a bit better...look at things from another person's point of view is like saying, look at the situation how you think another person would see it. Some people think this could help a person solve a problem or see why somebody did something the way they did. If you think of something differently then how you normally would think about it, its having another person's point of view.
I usually see a long wait in the grocery store as boring, BUT my kids think of it as a time to look at all the different types of books and candy by the register, its fun to them. So if I look at the situation as they see it, I may have fun with them too!
