I agree, he shouldn't have to aplogize. If the average American citizen made that comment they wouldn't be forced to apologize. So, just because he's a politican he shouldn't have to aplogize. And, I do understand that they are held to a higher degree, but com'on.

I don't believe his apologies were sincere anyway. I heard his apologies and he sounded just like Bill Clinton sayin" I did not have sexual relations with that women". No I don't think he should take them back though. I do think that he is no longer Senator material. Someone in that position should have more class than to attack the military like he did. By the way he served in the Military, I guess he is uneducated and stupid, according to his words.
I can't believe that anybody would agree with his comments. What he said is truely unAmerican. This is not about politics. It is about respecting people who volunteer to put their lives on the line everyday, so that we can retain the freedoms that we enjoy everyday. Freedoms, that idiots like John Kerry abuse everyday. It takes a strong person to sign up to give his life for his neighbors and his country. At least the people in the Military stand for something worthwhile. They have a greater love for this country and the citizens, than any of the rest of us.
Greater love hath no man, than this that he lay down his life for his friend. John 15:13
Edit***-
I agree with Mandy and Tyson.
As for you Wanda, I was always told in school that the people who didn't cut it ended up washing windows at the gas station or flipping hamburgers at Mcdonalds. I have never heard anything so idiotic as that- if you don't cut it, you go into the Military. I always thought the Military was a noble profession. At least that is what they used to teach when it was still PC to be Patriotic.

I know he explained that he made a bad joke about the president. But his comments offended a lot of people. I think he should apologize to all the soldiers & families of soldiers and say that he was sorry that his joke came out the wrong way.
I was offended because I thought he was talking about the soldiers. I would like to hear some sort of humble apology addressed to the people he hurt most.
EDIT: Ah, yes, I just saw a story on the news about his apology. (About 40 minutes after I first answered this question). In that case, I'm glad he apologized. No, he shouldn't take it back. He said some really offensive things. And I haven't heard his full apology so I don't know whether I think it was sincere or not.

If he had insulted Bush and his comment had been directed toward George Bush and his administration only, then no he has a right to his opinion and shouldn't apologize. However, he stated that everyone in our military is uneducated. That is a broad generalization and highly untrue. How does he know the education levels of every soldier? That was an assumption on our part. It was not aimed at the Bush administration it was aimed at our own soldiers. So yes he should apologize to our troops who are overseas fighting for freedom for us and John Kerry as well.

You know what? Whether you agree with the war in Iraq or not, you have no business (and neither does Kerry or anyone else) of insulting the men and women who are giving up their lives to preserve our freedom, even if you don't think our freedom is in danger or in need of preserving.
While you sit at your computer doing whatever hobbies you have, enjoying your life, they are over there so that you're free to do that. You owe them respect and gratitude.
I know a few guys who are troops in Iraq, and they are not stupid, they were not lazy in school, they are not slackers. They are intelligent people who made the choice to fight for the rights we all enjoy over here.
I could care less that Kerry apologized. It wasn't because he was sorry, it was because he got pressured to. He didn't suddenly grow a conscience, and he didn't suddenly have respect for troops in Iraq. His "apology" was akin to someone apologizing only because they got caught doing something wrong, not because they're repentant of having done something wrong.

You call that an apology? Any man that isn't a complete coward would be willing to appologize in person. Do you not understand that he insulted the very men that have layed their lives on the line since this country was founded so that he would have the right to stand infront of everyone and make stupid comments like this. The military is just like the rest of the world. You have every job you could imagine. You have everything from the lower level jobs that do not require much intellegence to the high level technical jobs that do require intellegence. The military has some of the most advanced technologies known to man. Do you know who operates and repairs these things? The men you are calling dumb. That would be like calling all of America dumb because everyone didn't graduate from college. How can you not realize he was out of line??? Even almost all of his own party bailed out on him after he said it. Even they know he was wrong.

Me too sister! I think if anyone should apologize for anything, it should be Bush for everything he has ever done & everything he has ever said! I think he should apoligize for being a f*cker that is killing so many Americans right now! I like Kerry, I think he would be a better leader that the one we have now. He didn't insult anyone, that is just the Republicans doing what they can to keep from looking like dumbasses. Which isn't working, they are still dumbasses!! I like the way you think!!

He said he was sorry people misinterpeted his "joke". That's not really an apology for what he said.
Repubs are always being asked to apologize. So dems should be asked to apologize as well.
Kerry should stay out of the joke business. He should go home to Theresa and live on his allowance.

It was becoming to much of a distraction. I agree in principle with what Kerry was trying to say but I also know that, partially with the help of the right wing spin machine, some people took offense. Under the circumstances I think the apology was appropriate.

It doesn't matter whether he should or shouldn't have apologized. Under the circumstances, he did what was politically correct a week before a critical election. When you're a politician, you have to play politics.
I do find it eye-opening that all the major news channels jumped all over Kerry's misstatement as their lead story and didn't even make note of Bush's outrageous statement: "Voting for the Democrats is voting for the terrorists."

Posts this morning do no longer say the militia is uneducated; it is yet another Republican smear. right this is the textual content textile of the particularly lame comedian tale that Kerry made, yet botched by way of leaving out the word "us" “do you be responsive to the place you wind up in case you don’t study, in case you aren’t smart, in case you’re intellectually lazy? you wind up getting us caught in a conflict in Iraq. merely ask President Bush.” it is all a pretend controversy to divert from the real themes.
