You might be a victim of one of the many different cd drives that XBOX put into their systems. They put 3 different drives in, but I only remember a Thompson drive and a Phillips drive. The Thompson drive is the worst, and of course (due to Murphy's Law) it was put in most of the Xboxes. Games now are dual layered and the Thompson drive can only read single layered. The best thing to do is to buy an XBOX 360, or search online for a listing of serial numbers that tell if a phillips drive or a thompson drive was installed. Print the list out, go to a store and check the serial numbers on the box. Good luck.

Check to see if your Xbox game discs are dirty or scratched. If they are dirty(probably from holding them incorrectly), then wipe them clean with a non-abrasive cloth, like the lens cleaning cloth.
If they are scratched, then you should either buy yourself a CD repair kit(not too expensive) or take it to the place when they will fix it professionally for you.
I hope this will help you solve any problems.

Are these old xbox games? Because if they are you will have to download a patch from xbox.com.
