One thing you could do is learn the technique of using pastels (that's one book, and plenty of practice), and then you could get a veterinary anatomy book to study the animal anatomy you need, or one of those simple children's books on animals ... both are usually available in your public library.

Can't imagine why you'd want to do that,,,, but for any literary need ,,,, your best options for finding anything would be either Walden's Book store or Barns & Noble ,,,,,, I think that maybe instead of paint your are looking for some kind of dye ,,,,

Why not try your local library. I work in a library and we have loads of books on drawing and painting in all different sorts of syles and media.
