We have to have Thanksgiving at our house and not a relatives' house. One Thanksgiving, my sister-in-law was planning to have ham instead of turkey! NO! NO! NO! Not in our house. It HAS to be turkey. The Cowboys game HAS to be on. The cranberry sauce HAS to come from the can. There has to be a veggie tray with green olives, black olives, celery and cream cheese etc. We eat at around noon also. One should wake up to the smell of the turkey in the oven already. There HAS to be so much food and so many different kinds that you can't get every kind of food on one plate and you have to go back for seconds. The eating lasts all day.

I love this question!! We always have a turkey, often also with venison roast. Everyone gets their favorites, so far more food than necessary is there. Yams, baby carrots, canned cranberry sauce, stuffing, brussel sprouts, and this magical "green stuff" made from cool whip and pistachio instant pudding...so white trash but so tasty. In addition, each person gets to pick a pie...usually one pie per person when done. Then we head to my brother's in-laws for a huge feast where I bring my pumpkin cheesecake and we all drink and eat ourselves silly.

We always have the big meal at our house. But we only invite my grandpa and sometimes a friend of my parents. Almost all of our relatives live in other states.
