I have never been to the symphony but I have gotten tickets for tomorrow night. Can anyone tell me what to wear. Also what to expect from the experience. Or any other advice. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what city you are in, but in St Louis at Powell Hall, you would see everything from tuxes to jeans. Mostly people just wear what they would wear to church. For those who are more casual, they are usually students, probably music majors, and I do see a lot of older baby-boomer hippie looking people, but they are usually classical musicians themselves. My wife usually just wears a skirt or nice slacks and a nice sweater. It will probably be a little chilly.
If you can, find the music that will be performed on a CD or the web, and listen to it ahead of time so you can listen for the less noticeable background notes in the live performances. That's what I like to do at least.
I hope it's a world class symphony. I'm an old rock and roller who probably wouldn't have taken to it, except that our orchestra in STL is so good you can't help but enjoy. A less accomplished orchestra probably would have turned me off my first time.

Dress nicely. Bring cough drops in a non-crinkly paper. Turn off your cell phone.

Don't clap in between movements. The conductor will be keeping his/her hands up to indicate that it's not yet done. Follow the lead of (the majority of) the audience.

Use the bathroom before the performance.

It might be worth your while to research the music you're going to be hearing (if you've not heard it before).

Wear something nice. Dark colors are appropriate too. No mini's or body parts hanging out all over. Good dress shoes - no flipflops or tennis shoes.

Expect to hear some awesome music.

Advice - make sure you use the restroom before they start.
