where on the internet can i find this out? I havent purchased the hard disk yet

they're normally on a sticker somewhere on the drive or imprinted just above where the actual jumpers are on the back of the drive.

have a look and if you still can't see anything, add 'additional details' of the specific model of the hard drive and i'll link to a picture of the jumper settings for you.

EDIT: why do you need to know the jumper settings before you've bought the hard disk? if you haven't bought it they'll come with the drive.

western dig master no slave = no jumper
master w slave = middle jumper
slave =1 spot right of center toward power connector

I am not sure what you are asking. The master slave thing is in the System Bios which you get by turning off comp, restarting and tapping F8 continuously to get into BIOS menu. If you are talking actually changing the hardware itself, call Western Digital or get online to their website. They will know.

they will be imprinted on the circuit board on the bottom side otf the hard drive MA for master, SL for slave, and CS for cable select

go onto google and do a search there on the hard drive.
