and how does this compare to the 25% of adults in the general population? Surely you must know this figure to be about the same or more? Otherwise Kerry is correct - right?

To mommyof4; 56% of civilians have a college degree? Don't think so. Surely you can support that with a definitive link? And, no, bottles doesn't constitute a definitive link.

I don't know. Of course, graduates of military academies are required to serve after graduation..I think five years is the requirement. What I do know is that many military recruiters are paying the fees for high school dropouts to take the GED needed to join. (Primarily Army.) My guess is that other than officers, the general military population is not comprised of our best and brightest. For the dropouts who left high school for behavioral problems, that doesn't speak too well for the caliber of the military either.

I got this from Bottles---He rocks!

98or 99% of the military have a high school education or better.
88% of civilians have a high school education or better.

98 or 99% of officers in the military have a college degree.

56% of civilians have a college degree.

I rest my case.

What about those who joined the military for college grants but got called to service. Oh and just because someone doesn't have a degree doesn't make them unintelligent.
