Last period started September 1st. My previous 2 cycles were 33 days and 34 days. I am trying to figure out when we conceived. I did a pregnancy test on Oct 8 that was negative (but may have been a false negative) and another one on Oct 13 that came out positive. The kind of pregnancy tests I used say "over 99% accurate when used from 1st day of expected period" and "test as early as 4 days before your expected period". I don't really want to go for an ultrasound, but would like to be able to figure out my estimated due date.

Well, people sure seem to have a lot of opinions!

Whether or not I choose to have an ultrasound is a personal decision. If the midwife recommends it I will.

But really people, just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Noone knows for sure the effects of strong sound waves on the developing fetus! I'm not saying it's a hazard, I just don't know if it's always a necessity.

We already have one daughter. She was a planned home birth, 8 lbs 4 oz. She's a happy healthy babbling toddler. She knew before we did that I was pregnant!

According to your LMP, your due date would be June 13/07, and your estimated conception date September 20/06. Sometimes home pregnancy tests are unable to detect the level of hormones needed to achieve a positive result. The way a home pregnancy test works, is that it detects the amount of HCG hormone your body releases when pregnant. It wills only detect it when it gets to a certain level, and that is why your results were probably different. If you haven't seen your doctor yet, go see him. They will go by your LNMP usually for determining your due date in the beginning anyways, so just use that.

Assuming your Oct 8 test was a true negative, you probably ovulated later than you usually did on this last cycle. If we went by your previous two cycle of 33 and 34 days, chances are you would have tested positive on the 25iu sensitivity pregnancy tests by Oct 3 or 4 -- the fact that you were still testing negative on Oct 8 says to me that ovulation and implantation happened later than what we would predict using your last two cycles.

I'm making a lot of assumptions here since we have limited information, but let's say the earliest you could have tested positive is Oct 9. Most people would get a positive by 14dpo, so we'll assume that the earliest you could have ovulated is Sept 25.

Now on the "latest" side... you actually tested positive on Oct 13. About the earliest I have heard people test positive is 10dpo which would put the latest ovulation on Oct 3.

That's my best guesstimate of when you ovulated -- sometime between Sept 25 and Oct 3. That would put your due date between June 18 and June 26. Picking the middle date -- I would say "around" June 22.

You should get that ultrasound done to make sure you really ARE pregnant; because if you've already had a negative test, that one could've been faulty. There are other conditions, as well, than can cause you to have a FALSE positive. Besides, you should see your doctor right away, so that he can prescribe prenatals and iron and folic acid if you are pregnant. Only he can determine if you're pregnant, how far along you are and when you due date is; not Yahoo! Answers.

Go to ivillage.com. They have a due date calculator that you enter the first day of your LMP and it calculates 40 weeks from that day and also estimates your date of conception. Your due date may change when you go to the doctor and do have your ultrasound, depending on the gestational age of the baby and how big it is. I'm definitely with you on not wanting unnecessary ultrasounds, but make sure you are taking your prenatal vitamins and have scheduled your first prenatal appointment. It's very important to have good prenatal care.

Just based on your last period, Your baby's estimated due date: Friday, June 08, 2007 according to the calcluator at http://www.mymonthlycycles.com/whencalcct.jsp
Could be a little later though based on your longish cycle.
If you visit that link, they have several calculators available and you can try to fine tune the estimate.
Congratulations!

Your estimated date of delivery (as determined by the doctor's office) is 40 weeks from the first day of your last menstrual cycle. So figure 40 weeks from September 1st....you estimated date of delivery is June 8th.

JUNE 8th, 2007 CONGRATS!!!http://www.intmed.mcw.edu/clincalc/pregnancy.html
Your doctor will still do an early ultrasound to confirm the exact date. Sometimes the pregnacy tests don't always show up as early as they say they do.

I don't know how to figure out when you conceived. But, I believe the way the doctor figures from your last period, you would be due on June 8.
