You probably like conversation. In a busy pub there is simply too much noise and many people find it hard to make out what their companions are saying and so they shout more loudly and it all gets worse. I know people who go to a busy pub regularly just to feel that they are being sociable and find it torture, as they can't hear what people are saying to them and feel like idiots. You have my complete sympathy. Isn't there somewhere else your friend might be persuaded to go where it would actually be possible to hear each other speak and would it be possible to drag him or her off there after you've endured a drink or two?
If you're concerned about socialising generally, try to join one or two things where you'll get to meet people. When you do that, one thing leads to another and you soon find yourself with an interesting social life.
Good luck tomorrow!

I don't really enjoy that sort of thing either, what I tend to do is pretend I'm someone else! Sounds wacky but you just sort of, step out of your normal self and loosen up - have a few drinks, chat up some men, and at the end of the evening you find out that you just had a fantastic time! Pretend that you are the most confident, best looking person there, say to yourself, boys want me, girls want to be me, what have I got to loose! I did that all through college and loved every minute. Now though I'm back to my old sensible self, don't go too far and you'll have a great evening.

i was exactly the same, now i work behind a bar!!!
what i do is pretend you enjoy it by smiling, yeah it works, engage deep into conversation and keep looking around the room remembering to smile, people wil respond well to that and generally makes people feel comfotable...
if you dont enjoy it then thats fine, everyones different. just think your with your friend nd can make excuses to leave at any time...
dont stress and wear something yu feel great in! always helps me!!! no matter what it is!!!

difficult one, I don't enjoy that type of thing much either. If you would prefer to go to a quiet pub metion it to your friend. Let them know this really isn't your thing, and arrange to go to a quiet place later. If it turns out you meet someone, they will probably be the kind of person that likes noisy pubs - ask yourself if that is what you want. Also try to work out why you are going. You don't have to make yourself uncomfortable just to please others.

Aslong as you enjoy your friends company then everything should go ok. Just stay for 1 drink and then ask your friend if you can go somewhere else if you don't like it.
