I think that the most likely future of america is eventual balkanization. Followed by the rise of Nationalism. Followed by bloody wars. Just like Europe. (this will take many years) Immigrants are arriving at too fast of a pace to be acclimated to American society

When we start spending too much money on the military aspect of our country... so much even that we start to run an unmanageable debt. This causes us to neglect the social issues that affect us here at home. That and the corporatization of the entire world. Never before has there been multinational corporations. It should be interesting how it turns out.
Also.. you can say based on the Life Cycle of Products, we need to perpetually invent new stuff to stay on top of everyone else. Economically speaking, even though we are in the top, we are not number one in technological progress and our education is severly lacking to serve future generations in global competition.

Well, Bush is doing the best he can while in office. I'm going to guess it will be in the next 2 years. The only hope I think is if the Democrats do something about it! & quit letting so many foreigners come into our FREE COUNTRY & trying to change it into the one they left! Does that make any sence? Does America still exist now? I don't think so. I live in Indiana & the majority of business owners in my state are not "Americans" They are taking over. There are Billboards up all over that are not in english! This is America! Speak english or get the hell out! & take your leader(Bush) with you!!

There would have to be a reason that the 50 states no longer benefited from the common federal constitution, federal protection and common marketplace. Given that Europe just created the EU to specifically compete with the US, I would say that it may never happen to the US or it is so far off, we can't anticipate the cause.

when the giant sinkhole in wyoming grows and grows and the entire region will collapse into it,then the global warming will melt the polar cap and fill it with water then the edges will be sold for water-front homes and then central america will be developed by huge oil rich middle-eastern fiefdoms into a very large putt-putt golf course and europeans and australians will spend holidays there.

We have been in progress on that for many years already. America used to rank quite high in many aspects but the Republican party enacted laws to allow business to pretty much do whatever they want and it's been a downward spiral ever since.

If the current crop of democrats get elected or the incumbent republications get re-elected. The only hope we have is if someone get write-in votes.

You don't have to worry about it, or your grandchildren, or those who will be born a thousand years from now. All the other nations of the world will be gone. Many are on shaky ground now.

Never. It is too big and connected to too many things with most of the population patriotic and motivated to produce, not only children, but goods, services, and money, money, money.
