they made me a officer of corp. so the could avoid paying workmans comp. also I was supposed to have 1 share in the company --now they say get lost. they let me go saying they have no work -- thats a lie. am I supposed to get a severence pay of somekind .can anybody help me get some kind of justice.(ps. dont ever even think bout wrking for family-- it wil destroy it!.)

They can't avoid paying workman's comp if you are an employee of their company.

You are not necessarily entitled to severance pay (that is up to the company), but you can pick up unemployment.

If you made a deal for 1% of the company, you should have gotten that in writing. However, a verbal agreement is just as binding. For this, you will need to hire a lawyer and it will mostly be your word against theirs.

You should have some type of contract or agreement that was signed prior to your start date. If you don't, then there is no evidence that you are owed anything. Workmans comp covers injury related claims. If you have been terminated, you can file for unemployment.

You provide little information. What State? Also, does this State have a "right to worK" law? If so, then you can be terminated at will. There may be exceptions to this but you need to contact an employment attorney.

best bet... go get yourself a lawyer. Do you have documentation in writing stating what was "supposed" to be yours? If not i think your pretty much screwed!
