Just keep playing.
Let the skills do your talkin...

You start gettin wants to jam with you. Done deal!
No takers... Practice more!

This is one of the few environments where you are almost completly judged on your skills to perform and entertain.
Personnally you can be any kind of jerk you want.
If your good. Your in.

No , it's totally ok to do that - thats the way to meet some other players , get noticed , etc. Just a bit of advice: i dissagree with the answerer who suggests "act any way you want - if you're good you're in". Nobody likes a jerk...no matter how good they are. Also , don't brag IF you are good - again , bragging reeks of "jerk" 2. If you're bragging then that means your mouth is open and you're not listening - which is my main point: If you're any good , people will speak FOR you. My personal experience is that it's very cool to not brag and just "Do my thang" , that way i don't have to say anything. Trust me , if you do this (and you have the goods) people will be asking if it's ok to come up and talk to YOU. ...cheers

I think that would depend on your approach. If you make up some business cards with your name, number, musical experience, and types of music you are into, it will go a long way towards getting to meet the people you need to meet. You can put them up on bulletin boards to reach people who play, but don't necessarily hang out at the clubs. Good luck!

hell no it wouldn't be weird, people wouldn't go to a club if they didn't want to talk to random people anyways. Mingle with the regulars and you'll definitely find "people like you" and probably some band opportunities. Good Luck :)
