Yes if she were already on methadone or was a heroin addict.
If she came off heroin or methadone suddenly while pregnant the withdrawals could kill her baby. Therefore it might be safer to put an addict on methadone to make sure the drug level is constant in her system. This will do the baby much less harm than a sudden withdrawal. Plus the doctor/addiction team can monitor how much she takes etc and make sure the levels are safe. Much better than risking her scouring the neighbourhood for her next "fix" and withdrawing if she doesn't get it.
A mother who has been taking addictive drugs throughout her pregnancy might be told that her baby will need to be monitored in hospital for a while after birth (a few days) to make sure they are not going to have withdrawal syymptoms.
I know someone who had to take morphine (prescribed by a doctor of course) throughout her pregnancy for a pre-existing condition and was told her baby would be addicted, but the baby was fine. I myself was taking anti depressants before I got pregnant and was advised to stay on them as coming off would mean discontinuation symptoms (not the same as withdrawals but can be unpleasant) which could affect the baby.
Its the safer of two evils to make sure the mother keeps taking whatever medication she's been on. Any withdrawals can be dealt with after the baby has been carried to term and is born

Yes, if the mother was already on methadone before she feel pregnant, but he may suggest reducing the amount a little at a time. The baby would probably have to stay in hospital for a while in order to get the baby well, as it will be affected due to drugs.

If the methadone is needed as a heroin substitute then yes.
As you know heroin is extremely bad for babies in the uterus but going cold turkey is not an option as this can do even more damage even leading to miscarriage.
Hence the methadone, although not ideal, it is the lesser of the evils as it is controlled and isn't cut with all sorts of crap.

i'm particular your wellness care professional will understand your hesitancy to apply an animal product. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, there's a caveat you’ll would desire to settle for: sufferers who've tried taking synthetic T4/T3 (non-animal/pig thyroid meds) rfile they only didn’t get the extraordinary effects they have been given whilst they tried desiccated organic thyroid, which includes precisely what your very own thyroid would be producing: T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin. Many orthodox and conservative Jews for sure would have the comparable subject with something it is derived from a pig. according to risk the words of an orthodox rabbi (Silverman) can assist you. He reported that if certainly Armour is unique and required to keep a existence or ideas (and that's certainly a different drugs that works!), he could see 2 tactics that it would be superb to take Armour. First, it would desire to be swallowed and not taken sublingually. this way it doesn’t violate the nutritional regulations. 2d, no remember if that's needed for saving a existence/ideas, this continually takes priority. He reported to communicate this over along with your very own rabbinical government, yet he reported he’d be satisfied to communicate with any Jewish people who're worried approximately this. i understand that for the time of assessment to you, Orthodox and Conservative Jews consume kosher meat, however the belief of eating something derived from a pig is as vile to them as eating meat products is to you.

Yes if they were currently addicted to heroin, as methadone is a substitute. Depending on the number of mls needed a reduction programme maybe followed, however the baby will more than likely be methadone dependent as it would be heroin dependent if sticking to heroin, and need specialist care when born. Not a good time to be pregnant if dependent on either of these.

I wouldn't, but it is a pregnancy class C drug which means it is probably safe.
And to refute the crap above. Even methadone given at herorin clinics require a prescription.

No sure actually. I imagine they would because babies that are born to herion addict mothers are usually put on methadone once they are born anyway to ween them off herion as they also become addicted to herion whilst in the womb and isn't methodone safer then herion.

Sure. Methadone is available through clinics that don't always require MD prescriptions. You're talking about heroin addicts here, and heroin turns baby's brains to mush. Methadone is the better option.

I have heard of them doing that. I do not see how it would be safe for the baby being that all methadone is synthetic heroin. Be careful!
