The "Bully" isn't my boss or in any offical position over me but she has clearly shown her dislike of me from day one. She doesn't talke to me unless she has to for work purposes. If I say good morning or hello, there is no response from her. Not even a nod. She will bring breakfast for everyone else but me. When she does look at me she gives me these looks like she just ate dog doo. I have tried to talk to my boss about this but all he says is "that is how she is, she can be a B*tch, just deal with it, b/c she is good at what she does" I took that to mean that her position in the company is too important for him to say anything to her and that since I am just the lowly receptionist I just need to deal. Can someone please help me and let me know what I should do.

Your boss is what we men call a sniveling pri*k. he needs a good backhand. He hasn't got the gonads to put this woman in her place because he's scared of her too. She knows it as well. Let me guess...do you dress better than this woman? Younger? More attractive? i can tell you this...some compliment was made about you by one or several people and it pissed her off. that's why shes like this. The worse thing you can do is address it with her. As hard as it may seem you have to ignore it. Let alittle time pass. Things will settle somewhat and her guard will be dropped. I assure you. You'll run across a situation or two where you'll be able to screw her and it'll be in such a way she'll never know it came from you. Be patient and don't show that she's annoying or upsetting you. Your time will come. I'm not talking about a career ending thing...just a situation that when you've finished will make her look like an incompetent.
but remember...bide your time. It can never look like it came from you. Thats what makes it so tasty.

I'm only "guessing" about this, but she shows classic signs of extreme jealousy! So do one of 2 things. Either kill her with kindness, which may or may not work. Or come right out and ask her why she is so stand offish? If she gives you a rude responce, tell her this. You know, it takes a lot more energy to be hateful than kind, so I imagine "you" must be exausted! Then ignore her, and see how "she" likes it. However, if she says she didn't realize she was "being" stand offish, and apologizes, except it and move on, because if she's leveling with you, she'll come around eventually, okay? Good luck.

Ignore her.. If you have nothing to cause her actions, then don't even worry the least bit about it. When you get the dog-doo face, smile back and keep on working.

You bring in an office morning treat.. donuts, whatever, and leave one on her desk.. Do those little things that say you're not going to respond to her childishness.

She may end up approaching you to clear the air on her own.. Stick to the high ground.

i work with one of those too she thinks shes the best but thats what she gets for thinking she always expects everyone else to finish her work and is a very hateful person she makes fun of people and plays pranks that cause very stressful situations for others that are serious about the job she also has a 4 yr old son and no father for him sad that she sets these examples for him be grateful that she doesnt talk to you you are better off some people just dont know how to be decent to others just do a good job at work and be proud of yourself for earning your pay and trying to be a good person shes probably a miserable person be happy and relish in the peace of her not speaking to you good luck and have a good evening

Queen Bee behavior is best ignored. Interact at whatever level you're comfortable with but don't let her control you. Conduct yourself with a high degree of tact and poise and don't let her make you sweat or cry.

Office politics are often tedious by nature. The wuss you call boss is a part of the problem. He is not concerned with your issues and is most likely amused with your level of discomfort.

Your only real option here is to adapt or leave.

We all work with these unfortunate monsters. There is a chick here JUST like that. First I would suggest NOT saying hello or goodbye to her. BE GLAD you don't have to eat her food as she's probably voo-doo-ed it with her bad moods. She's probably intimidated by you therefore she acts mean toward you. Screw her. Pretend like she is not even there. I do not talk to anyone in my office and it's for this reason: I do'nt want to know their drama and vice versa. CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY that you don't ahve to be friends with that psycho, who probably stabs everyone in the back anyway. Your boss is prob a non-confrontational type. Do not let him know it gets to you. Just do not talk to her at all and avoid eye sight. This will make her feel like CRAP and you WIN :)

one way to beat the bully is to make sure you have enough people on your side.
she cant take on the whole office for instance, not even half if you put your mind to it.
make friends fast, dont be desperate though.
just find out a little more about the people in your office, a little, SUBTLE buttering up.
pretend your back at gindergartin(do youll say that in this country?) it never fails.
you'll soon see that gremlin disappear.

Continue to smile and say good morning. When she gives you a nasty look give her a big smile. Bake brownies for the office and make sure that you smile when you offer her one. I wouldn't sweat it. She's probably mad because you look better than she does. If you continue to be bothered by this get a new job.
