Hershey's, Reeses, Nestle and M&M/Mars are the big candy companies, and they have a great variety--they probably have websites that would tell you what suits your taste.
Snickers is the most popular candy bar--it is peanuts, caramel, and nougat covered in chocolate.
Other great chocolate candies are: Baby Ruth (Peanuts, caremel, chocolate), Butterfinger (my favorite--peanut butter candy covered in chocolate), M & M's (candy coated chocolate, with or without nuts). There are so many to pick from, I'd have to know what you are looking for.
Milk chocolate in America is darker than German milk chocolate. Many candies are also offered in dark chocolate varieties, but (even though I prefer dark chocolate) they usually screw up some other part of the recipie, so I don't recommend them, except for Hershey's plain and almond 'special dark'.
Of course, there are also the sweet (non-chocolate candies). My favorites are Hot Tamales (chewy cinnamon candy) and Sour Patch Kids (gummy candy covered with sugar and sour flavors). Sweet tarts are my sister's favorite, but I don't eat them (feels like I'm eating a bowl of sugar).
There is a candy for every taste, just walk into a 7-11 and pick out a few when you visit!

Almond Roca is good. Reeses peanut butter cups regular AND white chocolate are good. Ummmmm.........Now and Laters are good hard/chewy candy. Jolly Ranchers are always a favorite, in any flavor but apple is the best to me.
Sour Powers are good if you like bitter and sweet. Umm.......there are too many to name. OR go to a Sees candy shop for the chocolate. They are always a holiday favorite.
