I actually saw a special about that on tv. Apparently people describe those motions while asleep and see aliens. The chinese have conducted research on these people who claim seeing aliens and describing those emotions. It is just, apparently, a part of the brain that initiates and causes the body to act that way. I really don't remember much about the documentary, but maybe it is worth looking into for you. Either way, the devil isn't riding your back. That is non-sense. Maybe an angel is blessing you. Don't be scared. Good luck.
Also, these people are just dreaming about the aliens. There mind is playing tricks on them and they actually believe that is occurring.

Skhy47: This too has happen to me several times in my past.
I would be asleep and suddenly wake; thought try as I may to move, even to speak, would prove impossible to preform.
No, it is not "the devil" which holds you motionless rather your consciousness yet in the midst of a dream.
This is totally normal and there is nothing to fear during this phenomena.
Just sit or lay as you are and continue to dream, this experience will render some interesting results.

Relax, the devil may have invented this frightening experience but your soul is fine.
When the body goes to sleep, it goes into a kind of paralysis. In your case, your body tend to get a little out of sync and the paralysis happens before you are totally asleep.
I suggest you see a sleep specialist to help your body shut down in the correct order to stop these scary episodes.

No its no devil. Their is something in your brain that Paralyzes your muscles so you wont act out your dreams. But for some reason yours is taking longer to work to wake your muscles up. That's why some people act out their dreams too. That part of their brain doesn't work. So they walk and talk and do the things they dream about.

I agree with Evelyn. I'm glad to know that its something that happens to other people. I always felt it was some type of spirit holding you down. I've never heard the devil thing but it sounds possible.

I have experienced this. It doesn't last long. I think it's when one is between sleep and wakefulness. Of course, it's not the devil.

it's called dreaming that u're awake but in reality u're still asleep. it's not a demon or any type of ghost; u're just in a deep sleep. it's pretty common actually, so don't be afraid.
