I am overweight, and my period is really irregular, and I always think of the possibilty of pregnanacy... Does my weight have anything to with it, and if not what could be the resulting factors?

Your weight plays a huge part in your period. If you are heavy, a lot of times you can get your period without ovulating. (I know because this happens to me). But this does not mean that you can't get pregnant. Sometimes you will ovulate and not know it- so be careful!!! If you are too thin you stop getting your period all together. I have been trying to get pregnant and can't, so i went to the doc and they told me I have pcos. Which means basically i will get my period and a lot of times not ovulate. The only thing I can do to help this is to lose a lot of weight. So - yes weight plays a huge part in your period. Plus i don't know how old you are but if you are young- it takes a few years before your periods become regular.

Everyone is different. I have never been overweight or underweight, but I have always had irregular periods and severly painful cramps. I don't have them anymore since I have been on birth control. Maybe this is something that you can think about to help you. There are an abundance of different types of birth control. Go speak with a doctor to decide on what you want to do. Some people experience changes as they get older or have children, except for myself. The only thing that helped me is BIRTH CONTROL.

Alot of things can cause your cycle to be irregular:age and weight being a couple of them. Have you spoken to your gyno abt birth control? If you are not preventing pregnanacy, you should start planning for a baby. Crossing your fingers and hoping it doesnt happen is not an effective method of birth control!! If you are constantly worried about pregnancy, you are obviously not taking steps to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. Maybe birth control pills can help to regulate your menstual cycle. But you must see your gyno asap!!

I dont think that your weight has anything to do with your periods being irregular, and maybe you should consider getting a test if u think you maybe pregnant. But i think the best possibiliyt is to speak to your gp there the ones that will be able to help the most.

It could be the result of your weight, or extra stress...I would go to your doctor and ask to begin birth control. The pill is great at regulating your cycle.
